இராமாயண காப்பியத்திற்குக் கம்பனின் கொடை

வால்மீகி இராமாயணத்தில் இல்லாத
செய்திகளை கம்பன் எப்படி எடுத்து சொல்கிறார். உதராணத்திற்கு, அகலிகை
கல்லாக இருந்தது முதலில் கம்பராமாயணத்தில்தான் காணப்படுகிறது. 10-12ஆம்
நூற்றாண்டில் வைணவ ஆச்சாரியர்கள் கம்பராமயணத்தில் உள்ள புது விஷயங்களை
சமஸ்க்ரிதத்தில் பாடல்களாக மாற்றி வால்மீகியின் இராமயணத்தில்
சேர்த்துக் கொண்டனர். வால்மீகி இராமாயணத்தில் காணப்படும் கம்பனின்
தனிப்பட்ட செய்திகளை கம்பனின் நன்கொடையாகக் கூறும் ஒரு உரை இது.
About the speaker:
Dr.
A.A. Manavalan has Ph.D in English, M.A. in Tamil, and passed Visharad
in Hindi. He has been a teacher throughout his carrer and he retired as
the Professor and Head of of Department of Tamil, Madras University.
He is an expert on Comparative Literature and has received Fellowships
from K.K.Birla Foundation and Indo-US Fulbright Fellowship Program. He
has been a visiting professor of Tamil at Singapore Institute of
Management. His expertise is on Literary Theory, Literary Criticism,
Comparative Literature, and Translations (English to Tamil and Tamil to
English). His important publications on Comparative Perspectives
include -- A compendium of Tirukkural Translations in English, Heroism
in Milton and Kamban, and An Anthology of Tamil Bhakthi Poetry. His
translations include -- Aristotalin Kavithai Iyal, Pothanar (A monograph
of the Telugu Mahakavi), Tolkappiyam: Porulathikaram and Rabindranath
Tagore (A monograph in Tamil). He has received several awards : KLA
Award for his work on Tolkappiyam, Saraswathi Sammman Viruthu from KK
Birla Foundation, and awards from Chennai and Puduchery Kamban
Kazhagams.
