Preservation and Documentation of Temple Murals

by
MV Bhaskar
at 5.30pm on Saturday, September 1st, 2012
at Vinobha Hall, Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya, T Nagar.

M.V. Bhaskar, most recently an IFA grantee for pursuing alternative forms of reconstruction and restoration of the mural paintings on the ceiling of the Venugopla Parthasarathy temple at Chengam, began his involvement with mural paintings as part of a project of Dr. Balusamy to document and archive the mural paintings of Tamilnadu. Since then Bhaskar has been continuously working with this subject in the many roles that the subject and his own experience and skills permit - as a writer, archivist, film maker, and inevitably, a researcher. He wishes to share his multi-level engagement and how the different approaches coalesce into a new whole.

Bhaskar has also been involved in an exhaustive documentation of Tamil Brahmi stone inscriptions from all the known sites on behalf of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil and has produced and directed a documentary of the origin and history of Tamil language entitled uur. He is an imaging specialist in scientific publishing.

Bhaskar's Web Pages Include
